Raventós: New York Times Is Raving!
Another Call for Raventós
A few weeks ago we went to a very special private wine tasting in Boston. On a beautiful, crisp October evening we tasted some of the rarest bubbles on the planet. Some of the wines weren't even imported into the United States, while others just had a few bottles mysteriously brought into the country.
]
Among the wines were Jacques Selosse Blanc de Blancs Substance which is made in a solera system, Nyetimber South East Vineyards Premiere Cuvee 2001 from England (!), and Bellavista Franciacorta from Italy. We were in wine geek heaven. The evening was hosted by Valkyrie Selections along with father and son winemakers Manuel and Pepe Raventós from the Cava region of Spain.
Among the dozen or so wines we tasted at this spectacular tasting was the Raventós I Blanc Cava de Nit Rose 2009. We've written to you about this wine before because we absolutely love it. What's more, we're the only ones on the Cape allocated to sell it. There isn't a drop left at the wholesaler, but we still have our hands on some. You really should stock up while you can.

Recently, this wine received even more applause from one of the most famous wine critics in America. On October 18, Eric Asimov (wine reviewer for the New York Times) rated his top value wines for Autumn. His number one wine was -- the drum roll please -- Raventós I Blanc Cava de Nit Rose 2009.
"Spain produces an ocean of cheap cava, the sparkling wine guzzled throughout the country. Much of it is forgettable, but this pale rosé (make that rosato) is elegant, nuanced and fresh, with balanced, persistent flavors." (Eric Asimov, New York Times)
And of course here's Wine Advocate's gushing review.
"The outstanding 2009 De Nit (rose) has an almost hypnotic, perfect pale hue that is worth the price alone! The nose is very subtle and very pretty with traces of rosewater, fish scale and Morello cherries, all beautifully defined and drawing you in. The palate is crisp and tense on the entry: a minimalist rose cave that is based on freshness and poise rather than delivering fruit intensity. It is a delicate, very pretty, harmonious Cava rose that is sensual and alluring. Who needs Champagne when Cava can be as good as this? Drink now-2015+." (Wine Advocate)

This wine is $29.99/bottle or $287.90/12 pack case ($23.99/bottle) or just $23.99/bottle in a mixed case of wine. This is a great sparkler for the upcoming holidays and we can't recommend it enough.
P.S.
The Poliziano Rosso di Montepulciano 2010 is finally back in stock. Due to the problems we encountered keeping stock status, we've decided to extend the October sale into the month of November. Regularly $17.99/bottle, now on special sale for just $13.99/bottle (over 22% savings). We're still offering extra special savings on solid cases for this limited time only. Purchase a solid case for just $134.30/12 pack case (only $11.19/bottle). This fantastic case deal provides you with over 37% savings! Good through the month of November only, or until supplies last.
