Special Pre-Arrival Sale:
A Blockbuster 96+ Point Napa Valley Red
Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red 2007
(Napa Valley, CA)
The interest in this critically acclaimed wine is intense. And for good reason. This is one stunning bottle of wine.
A wine not to be missed.
The remarkable 2007 vintage in Napa Valley is rapidly disappearing as the 2008s are starting to hit the shelves. Clever wine drinkers and collectors are stocking up on the anything they can get their hands upon. Well, not really anything. We're talking about are some of the best red wines ever produced in Napa Valley.
A few months ago we entered our bid to procure the very special and limited production Pahlmeyer 2007. But so did everyone else across the country. We dug in our heels, called in some favors, and we were granted a small amount of this remarkable wine. While it's not here quite yet, we're very excited to offer you special pre-arrival pricing which should get some very happy tongues wagging.
The Pahlmeyer bottle itself is rather imposing and almost larger than life with a huge punt. Everything about this wine commands attention and exudes elegance.
Place this bottle on the dinner table and it's guaranteed to get people talking.
No expense was spared in producing this wine and it shows. The grape clusters were hand-sorted, de-stemmed, and then the individual berries were sorted again by hand to ensure each single grape was of the highest quality. As with many world-class wines, 100% wild native yeasts were used for fermentation. And it's unfined and unfiltered, which we love.
This may be one of the most complex big reds to emerge from Napa Valley.
Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red 2007 is elegant and intensely focused. It has layer after layer after layer of blackberry, cassis, anise, cocoa, black cherry, and blackberry preserves. The palate is remarkably concentrated with great weight and an elegantly refined structure.
The remarkable and luscious layers in this wine linger on and on and on.
Jayson Pahlmeyer, Napa Valley
One of California’s super-star producers, Pahlmeyer has consistently been considered by critics to be one of the top estates in Napa Valley. Pahlmeyer was one of Helen Turley’s first clients, and since she departed one of her apprentices, Erin Green, has continued to turn out sumptuous reds.
Pahlmeyer 2007 is a knockout.
And now for the press.
"The sensational 2007 Proprietary Red Wine (a 7,000-case blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec) is slightly more restrained aromatically than the Merlot, but there is no doubting its extraordinary bouquet of subtle smoked meats, oak, mountain wild flowers, blueberries, blackberries, coffee, and cassis.
Super-rich and full-bodied with noticeable, but stunningly sweet tannins, it possesses a rare minerality and definition, characteristics that seem to be found across the board in Napa’s 2007s. This dense, powerful red needs 3-5 years of cellaring, and should have 25 years of life ahead of it.
One of California’s super-star producers, Pahlmeyer’s wines have a fabulous track record of aging well. The 2007 reds appear to be the finest Pahlmeyer has produced in a decade ... and that includes some top-flight wines." (Robert Parker, Wine Advocate)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 96+ points
"A rich, explosive style, packed with layers of currant, blackberry, wild berry and black cherry fruit woven together in a tight way. Full-bodied, turning supple and polished on the finish, where the fine-grained tannins are ripe and let the fruit flavors flow freely." (Wine Spectator)
Wine Spectator: 95 points
