Today we have an eminently affordable, highly quaffable, every-day red Bordeaux to tempt your tastebuds. It's from the Entre-Deux-Mers region in France which is the area between the Dordogne and Garonne rivers below the city of Bordeaux. Entre-Deux-Mers is better known for its inexpensive white wines, but a few producers are making the tasty "Bordeaux" and "Bordeaux Supèrieur" appellations.
Chateau Roustaing is a very reliable producer of red Bordeaux. They add more Cabernet Franc than is customary, along with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. One thing we like about this wine is how it's crafted. You'll find no overt oakiness here, seeing it was aged in stainless steel vats. This means there will be less competition when you have it with food. We like that.
Today's wine is also designated "Vielle Vignes" which means "old vines." In this instance, we're talking about mature 25-year old vines. Another plus!
